  • Project Title: The Regulation and Professionalization of Herbal Medicine (2005), funded through a CIHR Doctoral Fellowship (2002-2005)
  • Project Description: This dissertation explores the efforts of herbalists to professionalize and attain statutory self-regulation in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.  In addition to an analysis of key policy and practice documents, a series of in-depth interviews with herbalists, including key stakeholders across Canada and practitioners in these provinces, was conducted.  Additionally, the implications of federal Natural Health Product (NHP) regulations for herbalists' practices and professional aspirations was explored.  This study draws on the professions, as well as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), literatures.
